OPTIONAL SHOCK UPGRADES

Stryker's 2.5" F250 F350 leveling kit does not require upgrading your shocks if they are still comfortably within their useful life.

With the shock extension brackets included in this kit the standard F250 F350  Super Duty OEM Shocks can comfortably operate with this 2.5" leveling kit and continue to provide you with that excellent Super Duty ride you expect.

Stryker offers shock upgrades if your driving conditions exceed the standard OEM shocks sweet spot for off road terrain or towing or if your shock is nearing its useful expected operating life. The industry consensus is that with heavy use, you could be looking to replace them at 40,000 or 50,000 miles or sooner. Under normal conditions, 75,000 to 90,000 miles might be reasonable. We have provided a range of shocks for you to consider.

Stryker is proud to finally offer our 2.5" Identity Series Leveling Kit / Lift Spacer.

This is a beefy, all steel top coil spacer that provides 2.5" of lift height - It can be used by itself to level your truck, or in conjunction with a kit to gain even more height!

Our 2.5" Leveling / Lift Spacers are part of our Identity Series line, and include machined aluminum faceplates to create a unique, high-quality design - Black on black is default, but polished faceplates are available, along with faceplates in other popular colors.  Additionally, the aluminum faceplates can be requested in custom colors!  (custom colors will require an additional fee, and a longer turnaround time)

LEVELING KIT FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS.

WHY ARE LEVELING KITS SO MUCH LESS EXPENSIVE THAN LIFT KITS?

Leveling kits max out at 2.5" of lift. To lift a truck above 3" or more often requires brackets and other components to allow the steering and drivetrain of your Super Duty to function correctly.

The least expensive leveling kits usually don’t adjust for the the changes in front steering and suspension geometry caused by the 2.5" lift.

Stryker's leveling kits offer the Track Bar Relocation Bracket optional

F250 F350 Leveling Kit Track Bar Relocation Bracket
  • Eliminate steering or tracking issues that may be experienced after leveling.
  • Center the front axle for more efficient alignment
  • Retains the OEM factory ride after your 2.5" lift as much as possible.

WHAT IS THE LARGEST TIRE I CAN USE ON A LEVELING KIT?

With a 2.5" leveling kit, tires that are one to two sizes larger than stock are candidates.

Truck use is a major consideration. A street driven Super Duty may never experience tire rub with a 2.5" leveling kit and your tire selection. That same combination could be intolerable off-road when the sway bars become  disconnected and the suspension is articulated.

Most leveling kit manufacturers offer tire size guidelines and some even provide wheel backspacing recommendations.

SHOULD I UPGRADE MY SHOCKS?

Your choice depends on several considerations. If you still have your original OEM shocks and they have 25,000 or more miles on them you may consider new shocks with the installation of a suspension leveling kit. If you chose to use your existing shocks most leveling kits include shock extenders. 2.5" of lift from your leveling kit will still maintain a shock travel acceptable for your OEM shocks.

If your chose to add a much heavier or larger Off Road Tire you should consider upgrading to performance shocks, which will help control the heavier, larger diameter tires over rough surfaces. You might even be a candidate for a dual steering stabilizer.

Better Leveling kits may also provide replacement bump drops to keep the stock shocks from bottoming out and damaging themselves. Using spacers common in most 2.5" leveling kits (rather than coil lift) creates this requirement.

WILL I NEED AN ALIGNMENT AFTER INSTALLING THE LEVELING KIT?

Yes, Super Dutys can benefit from an alignment after the installation of a leveling kit. Of special note is that the Super Duty's solid-axle can typically get by with centering the steering wheel with an adjustment using your drag link.

You may also require caster adjustment for proper handling and road manners. Many leveling kits include the components to do this. Proper alignment will avoid poor handling and premature wear of the tires.

DO I NEED TO LIFT THE REAR AFTER INSTALLING A LEVELING KIT?

Lifting the rear suspension defeats the styling benefits of a leveling kit. But there is no consensus to the need for addressing the truck geometry if you occasionally need to carry a heavy load (typically greater than 500 pounds). The concern centers on the nose of the truck lifting. For those instances, many Super Duty users suggest investigating an adjustable Rear Airbag Lift.  Stryker has several recommendations for its's F250 F350 Leveling and Lift Kit customers. Please contact us.

STEEL OR ALUMINUM VS. POLYURETHANE COIL SPACERS?

Several Leveling Kit vendors make a case that polyurethane spacers slightly deaden chassis noise better than aluminum or steel coil spacers.
There is some consensus (shared by Stryker Design Engineers) that factory OEM rubber coil isolator does this job well unassisted.

Stryker powder coats it's spacers to address damage specific to automotive fluids and road chemicals removing any cosmetic advantage of Polyurethane. And there is certainly consensus that Steel is the strongest of the 3 options. Especially when it is USA Steel!

HOW HARD IS IT TO INSTALL A LEVELING KIT?

An F250 F350 leveling kit is considered the simplest kit to install at home. Most leveling kits only need a variety of common hand tools, a floor jack, and jack stands rated for your F250 F350.
